حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَحْمِي عَبْدَهُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا وَهُوَ يَحْمِيهِ كَمَا تَحْمُونَ مَرِيضَكُمْ مِنْ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ تَخَافُونَهُ عَلَيْهِ.
English Translation
It was narrated from Mahmud b. Labid: that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Allah, Mighty and Sublime, indeed protects His believing servant from this world, protecting him just as you protect your sick one from food and drink, out of fear for him."
