English Translation
Mus'ab ibn Sallam narrated to us, al-Ajlah narrated to us, from Nu'aym ibn Abi Hind, from Rib'i ibn Hirash, who said: I sat with Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman and with Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari. One of them said to the other: Narrate what you heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: No, rather you narrate. So one of them narrated to his companion, and the other confirmed it as true. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection, and Allah will say: Look into his deeds. He will say: My Lord, I did no good except that I had wealth and used to deal with people; whoever was well-off I would grant him ease, and whoever was hard-pressed I would give him respite until he could pay. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will say: I am more entitled than you to grant ease — so He will forgive him. He said: You have spoken the truth; I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say this. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection who had said to his family: When I die, burn me, then grind me to powder, then face me toward a violent wind and scatter me. So Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will gather him on the Day of Resurrection, and will say to him: Why did you do that? He will say: Out of fear of You. He said: So He will forgive him. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say it.
