حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَبِيتُ اللَّيَالِي الْمُتَتَابِعَةَ طَاوِيًا وَأَهْلُهُ لَا يَجِدُونَ عَشَاءً قَالَ وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ خُبْزِهِمْ خُبْزَ الشَّعِيرِ.
English Translation
The Prophet (peace be upon him) would go to sleep on consecutive nights hungry, and his family could not find supper. Their bread was mostly barley bread.
