حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَلِيَّ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ فَضْلَ الدَّارِ الْقَرِيبَةِ يَعْنِي مِنْ الْمَسْجِدِ عَلَى الدَّارِ الْبَعِيدَةِ كَفَضْلِ الْغَازِي عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ.
English Translation
Abd Allah ibn Yazid narrated to us: Haywah narrated to us: Bakr ibn Amr narrated to me, that Abu Abd al-Malik Ali ibn Yazid al-Dimashqi narrated to him, that it reached him from Hudhayfah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said, "Indeed, the excellence of a house near — that is, near the mosque — over a house far away, is like the excellence of the one who goes forth to fight in the cause of Allah over the one who stays behind."
