حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَوْقٍ عَطِيَّةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا مُخْمِلُ بْنُ دِمَاثٍ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ مَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمْ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا صَلَّى بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ رَكْعَةً وَطَائِفَةٌ مُوَاجِهَةَ الْعَدُوِّ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ هَؤُلَاءِ فَقَامُوا مَقَامَ أَصْحَابِهِمْ مُوَاجِهُو الْعَدُوِّ وَجَاءَتْ الطَّائِفَةُ الْأُخْرَى فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَكَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَانِ وَلِكُلِّ طَائِفَةٍ رَكْعَةٌ.
English Translation
It was narrated to us by Affan, who said: It was narrated to us by Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad, who said: It was narrated to us by Abu Rawq Atiyyah ibn al-Harith, who said: It was narrated to us by Mukhmil ibn Dimath, who said: I went on a campaign with Sa'id ibn al-As. He said: He asked the people, "Which of you witnessed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said: Hudhayfah said: "I did. He prayed with one group of the people a single rak'ah, while another group faced the enemy. Then those went and took the place of their companions who were facing the enemy, and the other group came, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed with them a single rak'ah, then gave the closing salutation. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had two rak'ahs, while each group had one rak'ah."
