حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَحُصَيْنٌ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا فَرَطُكُمْ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ أَنْظُرُكُمْ لَيُرْفَعُ لِي رِجَالٌ مِنْكُمْ حَتَّى إِذَا عَرَفْتُهُمْ اخْتُلِجُوا دُونِي فَأَقُولُ رَبِّ أَصْحَابِي أَصْحَابِي فَيُقَالُ إِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثُوا بَعْدَكَ.
English Translation
It was narrated to us by Surayj ibn al-Nu'man, who said: It was narrated to us by Hushaym, from al-Mughirah, from Abu Wa'il, from Ibn Mas'ud; and Husayn, from Abu Wa'il, from Hudhayfah - both of them said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am your forerunner at the Basin, watching for you. Some men from among you will be raised up to me, and when I recognize them, they will be snatched away from me before I reach them, and I will say: My Lord, my companions, my companions! And it will be said: You do not know what they introduced after you."
