حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ صَبَّاحٍ عَنْ أَشْرَسَ قَالَ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ الْمَدِّ وَالْجَزْرِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَلَكًا مُوَكَّلٌ بِقَامُوسِ الْبَحْرِ فَإِذَا وَضَعَ رِجْلَهُ فَاضَتْ وَإِذَا رَفَعَهَا غَاضَتْ و قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ صَبَّاحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَشْرَسَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِثْلَهُ.
English Translation
Mu'tamir b. Sulayman told us, from Sabbah, from Ashras, he said: Ibn 'Abbas was asked about the tide, and he said: "An angel is assigned to the depths of the sea; when he places his foot, it overflows, and when he lifts it, it recedes." He also said: Ibrahim b. Dinar told me, Salih b. Sabbah told us, from his father, from Ashras, from Ibn 'Abbas, the like of it.
