حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي الضُّبَعِيَّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ عَادَ أَخًا لَهُ فَرَأَى جَبِينَهُ يَعْرَقُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَوْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَمُوتُ بِعَرَقِ الْجَبِينِ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from al-Muthanna ibn Sa'id, and Abu Dawud told us: al-Muthanna ibn Sa'id, that is al-Dubay'i, told us, from Qatadah, from Abdullah ibn Buraydah, from his father: that he visited a brother of his and saw his brow sweating, and said: Allah is Greatest! I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say - or, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said - Abu Dawud said in his version: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: The believer dies with sweat on the brow.
