English Translation
Abd al-Rahman told us: Sufyan told us, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to perform ablution before every prayer. On the day of the Conquest he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks, and prayed all the prayers with a single ablution. Umar said to him: O Messenger of Allah, you have done something you did not used to do. He said: I did it deliberately, O Umar.
