حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَعْظَمُ الْغُلُولِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ذِرَاعٌ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ تَجِدُونَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ جَارَيْنِ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوْ فِي الدَّارِ فَيَقْتَطِعُ أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ حَظِّ صَاحِبِهِ ذِرَاعًا إِذَا اقْتَطَعَهُ طُوِّقَهُ مِنْ سَبْعِ أَرَضِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.
English Translation
'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us: Zuhayr — meaning Ibn Muhammad — narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: 'The gravest form of misappropriation (ghulul) in the sight of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is a cubit's length of land. You find two men who are neighbors in land or in a house, and one of them cuts off a cubit from his companion's share; if he cuts it off, he will be encircled with it from seven earths until the Day of Resurrection.'
