حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَزَّارُ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عِيسَى قَالَ وَكَانَ أَمِيرًا عَلَى الرَّقَّةِ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ أَمِيرِ عَشَرَةٍ إِلَّا جِيءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مَغْلُولَةٌ يَدُهُ إِلَى عُنُقِهِ حَتَّى يُطْلِقَهُ الْحَقُّ أَوْ يُوبِقَهُ وَمَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ نَسِيَهُ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ أَجْذَمُ.
English Translation
Abdullah narrated to us: Ali ibn Shu'ayb al-Bazzar narrated to us: Ya'qub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami narrated to us: Abu Awanah informed me, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from Isa - who was governor of al-Raqqah - from Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There is no commander of ten men but he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection with his hand shackled to his neck, until the truth releases him or destroys him. And whoever learns the Qur'an and then forgets it will meet Allah afflicted with leprosy.
