حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنِ ابْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ غَزَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى وَلَا يَنْوِي فِي غَزَاتِهِ إِلَّا عِقَالًا فَلَهُ مَا نَوَى قَالَ بَهْزٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ حَدَّثَنَا جَبَلَةُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ.
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi and Bahz told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Jabalah ibn Atiyyah, from Ibn al-Walid ibn Ubadah ibn al-Samit, from his grandfather Ubadah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever goes out to fight in the way of Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and intends by his expedition nothing but a mere rope's tether, will have only what he intended." Bahz said in his narration: Jabalah ibn Atiyyah told us, from Yahya ibn al-Walid ibn Ubadah.
