English Translation
Isma'il ibn Ibrahim told us, Khalid al-Hadhdha informed us, from Abu Qilaba - Khalid said: I think he mentioned it from Abu Asma - who said: Ubada ibn al-Samit said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took a pledge from us just as he took it from the women, on six things: that we would not associate anything with Allah, not steal, not commit adultery, not kill our children, that none of us should slander another, and that we would not disobey him in anything good. Whoever among you commits one of these and is punished for it promptly, that is its expiation; and if it is delayed, then his affair rests with Allah, Exalted is He - if He wills He punishes him, and if He wills He shows him mercy. Hushaym told us, from Khalid, who said: I heard Abu Qilaba narrating from Abu al-Ash'ath, from Ubada ibn al-Samit, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, the same. Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us, Shu'ba told us, from Khalid, who said: I heard Abu Qilaba narrating from Abu al-Ash'ath, from Ubada ibn al-Samit, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, took a pledge from us just as he took it from the women - or from the people - and he mentioned the same meaning.
