حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي التَّيْمِيَّ قَالَ حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ تَقْرَءُونَ خَلْفِي قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ.
English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Sulayman - meaning al-Taymi - informed us. He said: I was told from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you recite behind me?" They said: 'Yes.' He said: "Do not do so except with Umm al-Kitab (the Opening Chapter)."
