حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ سَمِعَ جَلَبَةَ رِجَالٍ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى دَعَاهُمْ فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنُكُمْ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا إِذَا أَتَيْتُمْ الصَّلَاةَ فَعَلَيْكُمْ السَّكِينَةَ فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا وَمَا سَبَقَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا.
English Translation
Hasan ibn Musa and Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, they said: Shayban narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, who said: While we were praying with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he heard a commotion of men. When he finished praying, he called them and said: 'What is the matter with you?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we hurried to the prayer.' He said: 'Do not do that. When you come to the prayer, maintain your calm and dignity. Whatever you catch, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it.'
