حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِنْ أَجْلِ فُلَانٍ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ لَمُنَفِّرِينَ فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us: Isma'il narrated to us: Qays ibn Abi Hazim narrated to me, from Abu Mas'ud Uqba ibn Amr, who said: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I am delayed from the dawn prayer because of so-and-so, who makes it long for us." I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) angrier in an admonition than he was that day, and he said, "O people, some among you cause aversion; so whichever of you leads the people in prayer, let him keep it brief, for among them are the weak, the elderly, and those with pressing needs."
