English Translation
Abdullah said: I found in my father's book, in his own handwriting, and I think I heard it myself from al-Hakam: al-Hakam ibn Musa narrated to us: Isma'il ibn Ayyash narrated to us, from Mutarrih ibn Yazid al-Kinani, from Ubaydullah ibn Zahr, from Ali ibn Yazid, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umama: that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "Which charity is best?" He said: "The shade of a tent given in the way of Allah, or the service of a servant in the way of Allah, or a stud animal made available for breeding in the way of Allah." This is the last hadith of Abu Umama, may Allah, the Exalted, be pleased with him.
