English Translation
Abd al-Malik ibn Amr told us: Hisham told us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Zayd, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Umamah, who related to him, saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Recite the Qur'an, for it will intercede for its companions on the Day of Resurrection. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Al Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as though they were two clouds, or as though they were two shades, or as though they were two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading on behalf of their people. Then he said: Recite al-Baqarah, for taking hold of it is a blessing and abandoning it is a source of regret, and the sorcerers cannot withstand it. Affan told us: Aban told us: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir told us, from Zayd, from Abu Sallam, from Abu Umamah, that the Messenger of Allah said, and he mentioned the meaning of it.
