حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ عَنِ السَّرِيِّ بْنِ يَنْعُمَ عَنْ مَرِيحِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ عَن مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ قَالَ إِيَّاكَ وَالتَّنَعُّمَ فَإِنَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمُتَنَعِّمِينَ.
English Translation
Abdullah told us, my father told me, Yunus told us, Baqiyyah told us, from al-Sari ibn Yan'um, from Marih ibn Masruq, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, that when he sent him to Yemen, he said: "Beware of luxury, for the servants of Allah are not given to luxury."
