English Translation
Abdullah told us, my father told me, Hashim told us, Abd al-Hamid told us, Shahr ibn Hawshab told us, A'idh Allah ibn Abdullah told us, that Mu'adh arrived in Yemen, and a woman from Khawlan met him with twelve sons of hers, having left their father at home, the youngest of them having his beard fully grown. She stood and greeted Mu'adh, with two of her sons holding her by the arms. She said, "Who sent you, O man?" Mu'adh said to her, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me." The woman said, "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent you, and you are the messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - will you not inform me, O messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?" Mu'adh said to her, "Ask me whatever you wish." She said, "Tell me, what is the right of the husband over his wife?" Mu'adh said to her, "That she fear Allah as much as she is able, and that she listen and obey." She said, "I adjure you by Allah, you must tell me what is the right of the man over his wife." Mu'adh said to her, "Are you not satisfied to listen, obey, and fear Allah?" She said, "Yes, but tell me what is the right of the husband over his wife, for I have left the father of these behind, an old man, at home." Mu'adh said to her, "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Mu'adh, if you were to return - when you return to him - and find that leprosy had eaten through his flesh and torn through his nostrils, and you found his nostrils flowing with pus and blood, then you put your mouth to them and sucked them, in order to fulfill his right, you would never fulfill it fully."
