English Translation
Yahya b. Sa'id al-Qattan told us, from Hammad b. Salamah: 'Abd al-Malik b. 'Umayr told me, from Rifa'ah b. Shaddad, who said: I used to stand at the head of al-Mukhtar, and when I knew his lie, I resolved to draw my sword and strike off his neck, but I remembered a hadith that 'Amr b. al-Hamiq had related to us: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Whoever grants a man safety over his life and then kills him will be given the banner of treachery on the Day of Resurrection."
