English Translation
Rib'i b. Ibrahim, brother of Isma'il Ibn 'Ulayyah — and he praised him well, saying he excelled Isma'il — told us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Ishaq told us, from Muhammad b. Zayd b. al-Muhajir, from 'Umayr, the mawla of Abi al-Lahm, who said: I witnessed Khaybar with my masters, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gave orders concerning me, and I was girded with a sword, but I found myself dragging it. It was said to him that he was an owned slave. He said: So he ordered that I be given something of the odds and ends of the spoils. He said: And I presented to him an incantation with which I used to treat the insane in the pre-Islamic era. He said: "Discard such-and-such of it, and use what remains." Muhammad b. Zayd said: And I found him still using it to treat the insane.
