حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ هُوَ فِيهَا فَاجِرٌ لِيَقْتَطِعَ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ فَقَالَ الْأَشْعَثُ فِيَّ كَانَ وَاللَّهِ ذَلِكَ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ أَرْضٌ فَجَحَدَنِي فَقَدَّمْتُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ قُلْتُ لَا فَقَالَ لِلْيَهُودِيِّ احْلِفْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَنْ يَحْلِفَ فَذَهَبَ بِمَالِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى { إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا } إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ.
English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah told us, al-A'mash told us, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever swears a false oath in which he is a wrongdoer, to seize thereby the property of a Muslim, will meet Allah, Mighty and Majestic, while He is angry with him. Al-Ash'ath said: That was about me. By Allah, that was between me and a Jewish man over a piece of land; he denied my claim, so I brought him before the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do you have evidence? I said: No. He said to the Jew: Swear. I said: O Messenger of Allah, then he will swear and take away my property! So Allah, Most High, revealed: Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their own oaths for a small price... to the end of the verse.
