English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us, Sufyan informed us, from Asim, from Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, from Usamah ibn Zayd, who said: A daughter of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent word: My son is dying, so come to us. He sent back a greeting of peace, saying: To Allah belongs what He takes, and to Allah belongs what He gives, and everything with Him has an appointed term. He said: She sent to him again, adjuring him that he must come. He got up, and we got up with him - Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, and Sa'd ibn Ubadah. He took the child, whose breath was rattling, and his eyes shed tears. Sa'd said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this? He said: This is a mercy which Allah has placed in the hearts of His servants, and Allah shows mercy only to the merciful among His servants.
