حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ أَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ وَأَبِي النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ مَاذَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ رِجْزٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ الشَّكُّ فِي الْحَدِيثِ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ لَا يُخْرِجُكُمْ إِلَّا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Abu Salamah al-Khuza'i told us, Malik told us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir and Abu al-Nadr, the freedman of Umar ibn Ubaydullah ibn Ma'mar, from Amir ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, from his father, that he asked Usamah ibn Zayd: What did you hear from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, concerning the plague? Usamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: It is a punishment sent upon a group of the Children of Israel, or a group of those before you - the doubt is in the hadith - so if you hear of it in a land, do not go there, and if it falls in a land while you are in it, do not leave it fleeing from it. Abu al-Nadr said in his hadith: It should not make you leave except to flee from it.
