حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَتْ كَانَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ لَا يُحَدِّثُ بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ فِيهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يُحَمِّقَكَ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُحَدِّثُ بِحَدِيثٍ إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ.
English Translation
Yunus told us: Baqiyyah told us, from Habib ibn Umar al-Ansari, from Abu Abd al-Samad, from Umm al-Darda, who said: Abu al-Darda would not narrate a hadith except that he smiled in it. So I said to him: 'I fear that people will think you foolish.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would not narrate a hadith except that he smiled.'
