English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah told us: Hisham ibn Hassan al-Qurdusi told us, from Qays ibn Sa'd, from a man who narrated to him from Abu al-Darda, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about accepting a gift from the ruler. He said: 'Whatever Allah gives you of it without asking and without craving it, take it and make it your wealth.' He said: And al-Hasan, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 'There is no harm in it as long as you do not travel to seek it or crave it.'
