English Translation
Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us: Dawud ibn Abi Hind narrated to us, from Abu Harb ibn Abi al-Aswad, from Abu al-Aswad, from Abu Dharr, who said: He used to draw water at his watering trough, and some people came. He said: "Which of you will come to draw water from Abu Dharr's trough and take into account [i.e. accept in exchange] a few hairs from his head [as an exaggeration for something trivial]?" A man said: "I will." So the man came and drew water from the trough, and struck it [causing it damage]. Abu Dharr had been standing, so he sat down, then he lay down. It was said to him: "O Abu Dharr, why did you sit down, then lie down?" He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to us: "When one of you becomes angry while standing, let him sit down; if the anger leaves him, well and good, otherwise let him lie down."
