English Translation
Affan narrated to us: Hammam narrated to us: Qatadah narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Shaqiq, who said: I said to Abu Dharr: "If I had seen the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, I would have asked him [something]." He said: "What would you have asked him?" I said: "I would have asked him whether he saw his Lord, Mighty and Majestic is He." He said: "I did indeed ask him, and he said: 'I saw Him as light; how could I see Him [directly]?'" Affan said: It has reached me from Ibn Hisham -- meaning Mu'adh -- that he related it from his father as Hammam said: "I saw Him."
