English Translation
Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd told us, Isma'il told us, from Qays, from Khabbab, who said: We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was in the shade of the Ka'bah, resting his head on a cloak of his. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you pray to Allah, blessed and exalted is He, for us, and seek His aid?" His color reddened, or changed, and he said: "Among those before you, a man would be seized and a pit dug for him, and a saw would be brought and placed on his head, and he would be sawn in two, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. And he would be combed with iron combs, tearing flesh and sinew from bone, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. Allah, blessed and exalted is He, will surely complete this matter until a rider travels from Sana'a to Hadramawt fearing none but Allah, exalted is He, and the wolf for his sheep -- but you are impatient."
