حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ تَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ لَا تَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ قَالَ أَفَأَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَتَوَضَّأْ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ فَنُصَلِّي فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَنُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ نَعَمْ صَلِّ فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ.
English Translation
'Affan told us, Abu 'Awanah told us, 'Uthman ibn 'Abdullah ibn Mawhab told us, from Ja'far ibn Abi Thawr, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: I was sitting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall we perform ablution after eating sheep meat?" He said: "If you wish, perform ablution from it, and if you wish, do not." He said: "Shall I perform ablution after eating camel meat?" He said: "Yes, perform ablution after eating camel meat." He said: "Shall we pray in the resting-places of camels?" He said: "No." He said: "Shall we pray in the resting-places of sheep?" He said: "Yes, pray in the resting-places of sheep."
