حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَن الْحَسَنِ عَن أَبِي بَكْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنِّي قُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ فَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَخَشِيَ التَّزْكِيَةَ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ أَوْ يَقُولُ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ رَاقِدٍ أَوْ غَافِلٍ.
English Translation
Bahz told us, Hammam told us, Qatadah informed us, from al-Hasan, from Abu Bakrah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Let none of you say: 'I stood in prayer the whole of Ramadan.'" Qatadah said: "Allah knows best whether he feared self-attribution of purity for his nation, or he said: 'There must inevitably be one asleep or heedless.'"
