حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ بَعْدِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي قَوْمًا يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ حَلَاقِيمَهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَخْرُجُ السَّهْمُ مِنْ الرَّمِيَّةِ ثُمَّ لَا يَعُودُونَ إِلَيْهِ شَرُّ الْخَلْقِ وَالْخَلِيقَةِ قَالَ ابْنُ الصَّامِتِ فَلَقِيتُ رَافِعًا فَحَدَّثْتُهُ فَقَالَ وَأَنَا أَيْضًا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Affan told us: Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah told us: Humayd told us: Abdullah ibn al-Samit told us, from Abu Dharr, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, after me, among my nation, there will be people who recite the Qur'an, but it will not pass beyond their throats; they will exit from the religion just as an arrow exits from its target, never to return to it - the worst of creation and creatures." Ibn al-Samit said: So I met Rafi' and related it to him, and he said: "I too have heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
