حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجَرْمِيُّ عَن أَبِيهِ عَن سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ دَلْوًا دُلِّيَتْ مِنْ السَّمَاءِ فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ فَأَخَذَ بِعَرَاقِيبِهَا فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ شُرْبًا ضَعِيفًا قَالَ عَفَّانُ وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَأَخَذَ بِعَرَاقِيبِهَا فَشَرِبَ حَتَّى تَضَلَّعَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَأَخَذَ بِعَرَاقِيبِهَا فَشَرِبَ فَانْتَشَطَتْ مِنْهُ فَانْتَضَحَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad and Affan told us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah told us: al-Ash'ath ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Jarmi informed us, from his father, from Samurah ibn Jundub, that a man said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw as if a bucket were let down from the sky. Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, came and took hold of its handles and drank from it a weak draught" - Affan said: "and there was weakness in it" - "then Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, came and took hold of its handles and drank until he was fully satisfied; then Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, came and took hold of its handles and drank, and it was pulled away from him, and some of it splashed onto him."
