English Translation
Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us, Shayban ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Abd al-Malik, from Zayd ibn Uqba al-Fazari, who said: I entered upon al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf and said, "May Allah set right the governor - shall I not narrate to you a hadith that Samura ibn Jundab narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said, "Yes indeed." He said: I heard him say - the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Begging is toil by which a man wears down his own face; so whoever wishes may preserve his face, and whoever wishes may abandon that - except that a man may ask someone in authority, or ask concerning a matter he cannot avoid."
