حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْعَوْذِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ غَزَوْنَا مَعَ سِنَانِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مُكْرَانَ فَقَالَ سِنَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْمُحَبِّقِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ رَمَضَانُ لَهُ حُمُولَةٌ يَأْوِي إِلَى شِبَعٍ فَلْيَصُمْ رَمَضَانَ حَيْثُ أَدْرَكَهُ و قَالَ سِنَانٌ وُلِدْتُ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فَبُشِّرَ بِي أَبِي فَقَالُوا لَهُ وُلِدَ لَكَ غُلَامٌ فَقَالَ سَهْمٌ أَرْمِي بِهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا بَشَّرْتُمُونِي بِهِ وَسَمَّانِي سِنَانًا.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad narrated to us - Abd al-Samad ibn Habib al-Awdhi narrated to us - my father told me, who said: We went on a campaign with Sinan ibn Salama to Makran, and Sinan ibn Salama said: My father Salama ibn al-Muhabbiq told me that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever is reached by Ramadan while having provision that lets him take shelter in sufficiency, let him fast Ramadan wherever it reaches him." Sinan said: I was born on the day of Hunayn, and my father was given the good news of my birth; they said to him, "A boy has been born to you." He said, "An arrow that I shoot on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is dearer to me than the good news you have given me," and he named me Sinan.
