حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا ثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ قَالَ بَهْزٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ قَالَ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَذَكَرَ الثَّالِثَ أَمْ لَا ثُمَّ يَنْشَأُ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ وَيَنْذُرُونَ وَلَا يُوفُونَ وَيَخُونُونَ وَلَا يُؤْتَمَنُونَ وَيَفْشُو فِيهِمْ السِّمَنُ.
English Translation
Affan and Bahz told us, they said: Abu Awanah told us, Qatadah told us - Bahz said: from Qatadah, from Zurarah ibn Awfa, from Imran ibn Husayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The best of my nation is the generation among whom I was sent, then those who follow them, then those who follow them" - he said: Allah knows best whether he mentioned the third generation or not - "then a people will arise who bear witness though not asked to bear witness, who make vows but do not fulfill them, who betray trust and are not trusted, and obesity will spread among them."
