حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَن أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَتَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ حُبْلَى مِنْ زِنًا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَصَبْتُ حَدًّا فَأَقِمْهُ عَلَيَّ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِيَّهَا فَقَالَ أَحْسِنْ إِلَيْهَا فَإِذَا وَضَعَتْ حَمْلَهَا فَأْتِنِي بِهَا فَفَعَلَ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَشُكَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابُهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهَا فَرُجِمَتْ ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا وَقَدْ رَجَمْتَهَا فَقَالَ لَقَدْ تَابَتْ تَوْبَةً لَوْ قُسِمَتْ بَيْنَ سَبْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَوَسِعَتْهُمْ وَهَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْ جَادَتْ بِنَفْسِهَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
English Translation
Abu Amir told us, Hisham told us, from Yahya, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from Imran ibn Husayn, that a woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while pregnant from fornication, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed an offense deserving of a legal punishment, so carry it out on me." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, called her guardian and said: "Treat her well, and when she has given birth, bring her to me." He did so, and he commanded that her clothes be tied around her, then commanded that she be stoned, then he prayed over her. Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said to him: "You pray over her when you have stoned her?" He said: "She has repented a repentance which, if it were divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, would suffice them. Have you found anything better than that she gave herself up for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Sublime?"
