حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ مَطَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ شَكَّ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ فِي الْحَوْضِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ جُلَسَاءُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْكَ الْأَمِيرُ لِيَسْأَلَكَ عَنْ الْحَوْضِ فَهَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا قَالَ نَعَمْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُهُ فَمَنْ كَذَّبَ بِهِ فَلَا سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْهُ.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Mamar informed us, from Matar, from Abdullah ibn Buraydah al-Aslami, who said: Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad had doubts about the Basin, so he sent for Abu Barzah al-Aslami. When he came, the companions of Ubaydullah said to him: 'The governor has sent for you to ask you about the Basin. Did you hear anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about it?' He said: 'Yes, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) mention it. Whoever denies it, may Allah, Mighty and Exalted, not give him drink from it.'
