حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ عَن أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَن أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَسْتَاكُ وَهُوَ وَاضِعٌ طَرَفَ السِّوَاكِ عَلَى لِسَانِهِ يَسْتَنُّ إِلَى فَوْقَ فَوَصَفَ حَمَّادٌ كَأَنَّهُ يَرْفَعُ سِوَاكَهُ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ وَوَصَفَهُ لَنَا غَيْلَانُ قَالَ كَانَ يَسْتَنُّ طُولًا.
English Translation
Yunus ibn Muhammad told us: Hammad ibn Zayd told us: Ghaylan ibn Jarir told us, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa, who said: I went in to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was using the tooth-stick, having placed the end of the tooth-stick on his tongue, brushing upward. Hammad described it as if he were raising his tooth-stick. Hammad said: and Ghaylan described it to us; he said: "He used to brush lengthwise."
