حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَن بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رِوَايَةً قَالَ الْمُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ الصَّالِحِ مَثَلُ الْعَطَّارِ إِنْ لَمْ يُحْذِكَ مِنْ عِطْرِهِ عَلَقَكَ مِنْ رِيحِهِ وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ السُّوءِ مَثَلُ الْكِيرِ إِنْ لَمْ يُحْرِقْكَ نَالَكَ مِنْ شَرَرِهِ وَالْخَازِنُ الْأَمِينُ الَّذِي يُؤَدِّي مَا أُمِرَ بِهِ مُؤْتَجِرًا أَحَدُ الْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ.
English Translation
Sufyan told us, from Burayd b. Abdullah b. Abi Burda, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa - as a narration - who said: "The believer is to the believer like a building, part of it strengthening another. And the likeness of a good companion is like a perfume-seller: if he does not give you some of his perfume, you will still catch some of its scent from him. And the likeness of a bad companion is like the blacksmith's bellows: if he does not burn you, you will still be affected by its sparks. And the trustworthy keeper who carries out what he is ordered, seeking reward thereby, is one of those who give charity."
