حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ دَيْلَمٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَتْ الْيَهُودُ يَتَعَاطَسُونَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُمْ يَرْحَمُكُمْ اللَّهُ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ لَهُمْ يَهْدِيكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَكُمْ.
English Translation
Waki' told us: Sufyan and Abd al-Rahman told us, from Sufyan, from Hakim b. Daylam, from Abu Burda, from his father, who said: The Jews used to sneeze in the presence of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, hoping he would say to them, "May Allah have mercy on you." So he would say to them instead, "May Allah guide you and set your affairs right."
