English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja’far narrated to us: Shu’bah narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Shaybani, who said: I heard Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was on a journey, fasting, and he called for a drink from the one who carried his drink. The one who carried his drink said, "If only you would wait until evening, O Messenger of Allah." Then he called for it again, and he said to him, "If only you would wait until evening" — three times. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "When night comes from here, the breaking of the fast is permitted" — or a word to that effect.
