حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيُّ قَالَ قَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَسُنُّ عَبْدٌ سُنَّةً صَالِحَةً يَعْمَلُ بِهَا مَنْ بَعْدَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ وَلَا يَسُنُّ عَبْدٌ سُنَّةَ سُوءٍ يَعْمَلُ بِهَا مَنْ بَعْدَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ قَالَ وَأَتَاهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ الْأَعْرَابِ فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ يَأْتِينَا نَاسٌ مِنْ مُصَدِّقِيكَ يَظْلِمُونَا قَالَ أَرْضُوا مُصَدِّقَكُمْ وَإِنْ ظَلَمَ قَالَ أَرْضُوا مُصَدِّقَكُمْ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ فَمَا صَدَرَ عَنِّي مُصَدِّقٌ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا وَهُوَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ.
English Translation
Yahya told us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Isma'il: Abd al-Rahman ibn Hilal al-Absi told us, who said: Jarir ibn Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "No servant introduces a righteous practice that those after him act upon, except that he will have the like of the reward of whoever acts upon it, without anything being diminished from their rewards; and no servant introduces an evil practice that those after him act upon, except that he will bear its burden and the burden of whoever acts upon it, without anything being diminished from their burdens." He said: And some Bedouin came to him and said, "O Prophet of Allah, some of your zakat-collectors come to us and wrong us." He said, "Satisfy your zakat-collector even if he wrongs you." He said, "Satisfy your zakat-collector." Jarir said: No zakat-collector has left me since I heard this from the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, except that he was pleased with me.
