حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ قَالَ وَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ذَكَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ ذَكَرَكَ آنِفًا بِأَحْسَنِ ذِكْرٍ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ أَوْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ إِلَّا أَنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ فَحَمِدْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي و قَالَ أَبُو قَطَنٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْهُ أَوْ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَمَانِي الْقَوْمُ بِالْحَدَقِ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.
English Translation
Abu Qatan told us: Yunus told me, from al-Mughira ibn Shibl, who said: Jarir said: When I drew near to Medina, I made my mount kneel, then opened my saddlebag, then put on my fine garment, then entered, and there was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivering a sermon. The people stared at me intently, so I said to the one sitting next to me, "O servant of Allah, did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mention me?" He said, "Yes, he mentioned you just now in the best manner." While he was delivering his sermon, he brought it up in his sermon and said, "There will come to you through this gate" - or "through this mountain pass - one of the best of the people of Yemen; indeed, on his face is the mark of an angel." Jarir said: I praised Allah, Mighty and Majestic, for what He had blessed me with. Abu Qatan said: I said to him, "Did you hear it from him, or did you hear it from al-Mughira ibn Shibl?" He said, "Yes." Abu Nu'aym told us: Yunus told us, from al-Mughira ibn Shubayl ibn Awf, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: When I drew near to Medina, I made my mount kneel, then opened my saddlebag, then put on my fine garment. He said: I entered while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon, and I greeted the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with salaam. The people stared at me intently, so I said to the one sitting next to me, "Did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mention anything about me?" And he mentioned the same.
