قَالَ قُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ وَأَنَا شَاهِدٌ سَمِعْتُ مَعْمَرًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَزْهَرَ قَالَ جُرِحَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ رَحْلِهِ قُلْتُ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ مَنْ يَدُلُّ عَلَى رَحْلِ خَالِدٍ فَأَتَاهُ وَهُوَ مَجْرُوحٌ فَجَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ.
English Translation
He said: It was read out to Sufyan while I was present, [and] I heard Ma'mar narrate, from al-Zuhri, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Azhar, who said: Khalid ibn al-Walid was wounded, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asking about his baggage. I said, while I was a young boy, "Who will show [him] to the baggage of Khalid?" So he came to him while he was wounded, and sat beside him.
