حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ شَبْلَ بْنَ حَامِدٍ الْمُزَنِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْأَوْسِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِلْوَلِيدَةِ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَبِيعُوهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ وَالضَّفِيرُ الْحَبْلُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ.
English Translation
Ya'qub told us, the nephew of Ibn Shihab told us from his uncle, who said: Ubaydullah b. Abdullah b. Utba b. Mas'ud informed me that Shabl b. Hamid al-Muzani informed him that Abdullah b. Malik al-Awsi informed him that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning the slave-girl: "If she commits fornication, flog her; then if she commits fornication, flog her; then if she commits fornication, flog her; then if she commits fornication, sell her, even for a braided cord" - the 'dafir' being the rope - [said] at the third time or at the fourth.
