English Translation

Affan told us, he said: Hammam told us: Muhammad ibn Juhadah told us, he said: Abd al-Jabbar ibn Wa'il told me, from Alqamah ibn Wa'il and a freedman of theirs, that both of them narrated to him from his father Wa'il ibn Hujr, that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raise his hands when he entered the prayer and said the takbir - Hammam described it as level with his ears - then he wrapped himself in his garment, then placed his right hand over his left. When he wished to bow, he brought his hands out of the garment and raised them, said the takbir, and bowed. When he said "Allah hears whoever praises Him," he raised his hands; when he prostrated, he prostrated with his palms placed down.
