حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ وَالْمُوَاصَلَةِ وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ قَالَ إِنْ أُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ فَرَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us: Sufyan informed us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abis, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade cupping for the fasting person and continuous fasting, but did not make it forbidden for his Companions. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, you fast continuously until the pre-dawn hour." He said: "If I fast continuously until the pre-dawn hour, my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, feeds me and gives me drink."
