حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ وَهْبٍ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ وَإِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُهَا وَجَمَعَ الْأَعْمَشُ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ مَرَّةً إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُنِي و حَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو الْجَوَّابِ حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ بُعِثْتُ مِنْ السَّاعَةِ كَهَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ و قَالَ عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَاه عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُشِيرُ بِإِصْبَعِهِ.
English Translation
Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd told us: al-A'mash told us, from Ibn Abi Khalid, from Wahb al-Suwa'i, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: I have been sent, and the Hour, like these two - and al-A'mash joined his index and middle fingers - and Muhammad said once: it has almost outrun me. And Abu al-Jawwab told us this: 'Ammar told us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Khalid, from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: I have been sent, and the Hour, like these two. And 'Isa ibn Yunus said, from Jabir ibn Samurah al-Suwa'i - my father said: 'Ali ibn Bahr told us this from him - who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, gesturing with his finger.
